Glass can be processed by various methods, including PP grinding. PP stands for Flat Polish, which means that the head side of the glass plate ‘flat’ has been ground. In addition to PP grinding, there are many other variants for glass grinding. You can read more about these different possibilities of PP grinding.
The PP grinding of glass
At Visser Mirrors & Glass we have several modern machines for glass processing. For example, grinding glass and mirrors is done on our “Bovone” grinder. Through the PP grinding of glass and mirrors, the edges are neatly finished. This creates clean lines. Not only flat/straight panels can be ground PP, all round panels, raised and other models are also eligible. In addition to the esthetic benefit of PP grinding, it also reduces the risk of injury. On the opposite side you will see a picture of a PP-ground glass plate. As we mentioned above, there are several different types of glass grinding, namely:
- PP (Flat Polish), this means that the “head” side of the glass plate is “flat” ground with 2 chamfered sides of +/- 1 – 2 mm.
- SA (sharp AF), this means that the “head” side is not ground, but only chamfered. This in a rough form.
- RP (Round Polish), this means that the “head” side is round ground.
